Welcome to Orchid Yoga

Creating practical, engaging, safe and accessible Yoga classes for everyone and every ability in and around North Lancashire, Cumbria, and Yorkshire.

All classes are taught by myself, Katie, a British Wheel of Yoga Level 4 teacher and Yoga Alliance Professional,  I am experienced in teaching students of all ages and abilities, guiding them through Yoga postures, breathing practices, relaxation, and meditation.

My classes are welcoming and down to earth, blending movement, breath and mindfulness with the goal of helping people create space  - in the body, the mind and in life - so people leave feeling stronger, calmer, more grounded and connected.

I am fully insured and accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance Professionals; and am trained to work with injuries, health conditions and illness, ensuring all students have an enjoyable and comfortable Yoga class and leave feeling their best.

I have now completed my training in Chair Yoga and Yoga For Seniors, and run Yoga and Functional Movement classes for seniors ( over 65's ) super seniors ( over 80's ) and anyone with reduced mobility.

The Yoga we enjoy today comes from a 5000-year-old Indian tradition, and offers something for everyone – whatever your age, weight, fitness level or flexibility, you can benefit from Yoga.

Physically, Yoga builds strength in the entire body, it improves flexibility and posture as well as balance and coordination. It also builds conditioning and endurance. It is an effective way of controlling weight and staying in shape, as well as building strong bones and preventing muscle loss.

Yoga offers a wide range of relaxation, meditation and breathing practices that improve lung function and calm the nervous system.

A regular Yoga practice helps to reduce stress and anxiety, improve low mood, and build resilience. It also helps with focus and cognitive function and is a fantastic way of alleviating insomnia and improving sleep quality.

It also helps with personal growth, teaching you to understand and accept yourself as you are, balancing out feelings and emotions, and enabling better relationships and interactions with the world around us. It is an effective way of finding balance and harmony on the mat and off.

About me

Hello, my name is Katie, and I am the founder of Orchid Yoga.

I am a former international athlete, passionate about fitness, nutrition, wellbeing and achieving optimum balance both physically and mentally.

I have practised Yoga for most of my life, it has helped me remain strong, flexible, and injury free as well as calmer, focused and more resilient.

Today I am a Level 4 British Wheel of Yoga teacher & Yoga Alliance Professional, experienced in teaching Yoga, Breathwork, Meditation and Relaxation. My passion is helping others slow down, build strength and find balance in the middle of busy lives.
