General Information

Clothing

Please wear comfy, stretchy clothing, so you can move freely. We will be moving a fair amount so you may want to wear layers to take on and off as required, as well as a warm jumper/top and some socks to put on at the end for the relaxation – you can also use a blanket for this!

Yoga is practiced bare foot, but you can wear grippy socks too if you prefer.

Equipment

A yoga mat, if you don’t have a mat, please don’t worry as I have spares. However, as you progress, I would encourage everyone to invest in their own personal yoga equipment, such as – a mat, a set of yoga blocks and yoga belt.

If you like some extra padding (an extra mat/cushion or blanket/towel) to soften the ground to protect your knees, please bring this along. A cushion is nice to sit on to raise the pelvis, but a block can also be used.

Class Times

All classes begin promptly, I would be grateful if you could arrive 5-10 minutes before the class start time so you can set up and allow time for a quick chat if you have any questions.

Things to note

British Wheel of Yoga Health Questionnaire

Please complete the health questionnaire before attending. It will be securely stored in accordance with GDPR. Knowing about any conditions or injuries beforehand is essential to ensure appropriate modifications and alternatives to poses; and when it is advisable for a student to avoid something altogether. If you would rather not disclose health information – please tick the disclaimer on the form, sign it and return it to me by email or in person.

Yoga is for everyone …

… so please come along without any expectation for your body to move in a certain way. Yoga teaches us the important lesson of self-love and self-respect, and this is something that I encourage my students to practice on and off the mat.

I will offer modifications and some alternatives throughout the lesson but please feel free to modify as you feel best, explore, figure out what feels good and go for it! If you would rather sit out of a pose or do something different, then do that. We are dynamic systems, the body likes to move, and there will be plenty of that but equally there will be moments of pause to catch our breath and relax.

I will be using a combination of talking, demonstrating, and walking around. We all take cues in different ways, some visual, some auditory, and some kinetic I will do my best to ensure all are covered and I do use hands-on adjustment to gently realign you. If you would rather I didn’t please just let me know beforehand.
